- At the café start, the ride leader drops a Joiin link in the club WhatsApp. Riders tap it and join, whatever phone they have.
- Phones go into back pockets. The leader and backmarker each have a Flic 2 button on the bars.
- Leader, holding the button: "Big pothole on the left after the bridge." Every rider hears it at the same moment.
- Backmarker: "Gap at the back, ease off for a minute." The front soft-pedals and the group comes back together.
- "Left at the next junction, then regroup in the lay-by." Nobody misses the turn.
- "Car back, single out." Called once and acted on straight away.
Hands-free, instant voice for your whole club run, wherever there's mobile signal.
Call the hazard once and the whole bunch hears it, from front to back at any distance, wherever there's mobile signal. Phone in your jersey pocket, Joiin button on your bars.
Calls passed down the line by shouting get lost in wind and traffic. Joiin lets ride leaders and backmarkers talk to every rider at once, with hands on the bars and phones in jersey pockets.
Group rides depend on messages that don't always arrive.
Hazards
"Pothole", "car back" and "gravel on the bend" get shouted from rider to rider. By the back of a 12-rider group, the message is late or gone.
Junctions
The front turns left and the back doesn't see it. Someone ends up off-route and the group stops to wait and phone round.
Regrouping
After a climb or a set of lights the group splits. The leader can't tell whether to soft-pedal or stop.

An example of how a ride leader and a backmarker could use Joiin on a typical club run.
For ride leaders, built around the club run.
- Hold to talk and release to mute. Only deliberate calls go out, not wind noise and heavy breathing.
- The Flic 2 button mounts on the bars, so there's no reaching for a phone.
- Mixed iPhone and Android groups work together. Riders join by link, code or QR code.
- Phones stay locked in pockets for the whole ride.
- A Club licence covers your ride leaders, with Flic 2 buttons included in the Club Kit.
Good to know
Riders need a phone with the Joiin app to listen. Joiin uses mobile data, so it works on roads with mobile signal.
Coming soon An off-grid mode for routes with no mobile signal is in development.
Joiin supports, and doesn't replace, hand signals, good road awareness and your club's ride guidelines. Keep at least one ear open to the road.
